More than 42,000 electric cars registered in Romania

 

 More than 42,000 electric cars have been registered so far in Romania, of which about 16,800 in 2023 alone, 35% more than in 2022, according to an expert analysis published last Thursday.

According to the index by one of the most important players in local electric mobility, there were about 5,000 charging stations for electrified vehicles available nationwide at the end of last year.

The best month of the previous year for e-mobility was July - with 2,134 registrations, and the opposite was April - with only 962 units registered.

Overall, in the electric car segment, Dacia Spring surpassed the 16,000-vehicle registration threshold, maintaining its leading position with 6,877 units registered last year alone. In 2nd and 3rd place were Tesla models - with 2,156 registrations for the Model Y and 1,149 for the Model 3. The top three account for over 60% of all registrations in Romania last year.

In terms of public electric vehicle charging infrastructure, in January 2024, there are 4,967 such points in Romania, of which 1,509 are CCS/CHAdeMO and 3,396 Type 2, distributed in 2,067 sites.

Currently, operators such as Renovatio E-Charge, EnelX, EON Drive, Mol Plugee, EVConnect, Plugpoint, Eldrive, EvGoSmartCharge are constantly investing in developing the charging station network.
