Trade: Romania has imported sugars and sugary products for over 83 million euro, in Q1

Romania has imported sugars and sugary products for 83.2 million euro, in Q1 this year, up by over 20% against the same period of last year, according to the commercial balance sheet with food produce, consulted by Agerpres.

The value of sugars and sugary products imports was 68.92 million euro in the first three months of last year.

On the other hand, during the period under analysis, exports of such products were worth 7,84 million euro, almost half against the same period of last year, when they surpassed 14.08 million euro, according to the data of the ministry of agriculture and rural development (MADR).

Thus, the deficit found in trade with sugars and sugary products reached 75.17 million euro in Q1 2021.

Exports and imports of sugars and sugary products were made in and from the EU countries as well in and from extra-community ones.

According to the MADR data, Romania’s deficit in the trade with food products increased by almost 60% in Q1 this year, as compared to the similar period of 2020, up to 755.34 million euro. In the first three months of 2020, the deficit in this sector was 455.5 million euro.

Romania exported, between January –March 2021, food produce worth 1.74 billion euro and spent for imports of such produce more than 2.49 billion euro.
