Americans with Hunt Oil ready to drill oil from Urziceni Perimeter, with Petrom as partner

The Americans with Hunt Oil have started a public acquisition procedure of oil drilling services within the Urziceni East Perimeter, where they are partners with Petrom, with the estimated cost of the contract standing at 17 to 19 million lei, VAT excluded, according to a Hunt Oil announcement posted on the website of public acquisitions.

'The specific services required are: mobilization, drilling, completion (or abandoning) and carrying out all operations and services related to a vertical derrick, and, at the request of HOCOR [Hunt Oil Company of Romania], another optional derrick,' reads the announcement.

The scheduled date for starting the awarding procedures is November 28, 2013.

According to the timetable set out in the announcement, drilling at the first derrick is scheduled to begin on May 1, 2014, in Ialomita County (south).

In 2010, Petrom and Hunt Oil Company Romania, the local subsidiary of U.S. company Hunt Oil, signed a partnership for the joint exploration of the onshore blocks Adjud and Urziceni East, situated in Eastern Romania.

A press release issued by Petrom in September 2010 informed that the two companies would unfold a comprehensive programme of seismic research and analysis of data obtained in 2010 and 2011, which would be jointly evaluated to determine the opportunities of exploration drilling for crude oil and natural gas.

Based in Texas, the U.S., Hunt Oil is one of the largest independent oil companies in the world. Established in 1934, the main activities of the company focus on exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas in the U.S. and worldwide.

The main areas of activity include the U.S. and deep offshore operations in the Gulf of Mexico, Canada, Yemen and Peru.

Furthermore, Hunt Oil Company and its subsidiaries actively explore in some other countries in Europe, South America, West Africa, Middle East and Far East.
