Electric energy consumption increases in Romania by 1.5 percent in first six months
The final electric energy consumption in Romania was 26.842 billion KWh in the first six months of 2012, up by 1.5 percent from the similar time span of the previous year, say the provisional data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS), which were published on Wednesday.
Thus, over January-June 2012, out of the total final consumption of electric energy, public lighting saw a 6.5 percent growth, whereas people's consumption increased by 1.2 percent.
In the time span referred to electric energy resources were 30.947 billion KWh, down by 1.025 billion KWh (3.2 percent) from the first six months of 2011. The drop in the production, namely 1.237 billion KWh (3.9 percent), mainly brought about the drop in the electric energy resources.
According to the INS data, the production in thermoelectric power stations was 16.499 billion KWh, up by 368.5 million KWh (2.3 percent), whereas the production in hydroelectric power plants amounted to 7.326 billion KWh, down by 2.038 billion KWh (21.8 percent).
The production in the nuclear electric power plants also amounted to 5.457 billion KWh in the first six months, down by 187.2 million KWh from the similar time span of 2011.
Also the production in the wind power plants was 1.187 billion KWh, up by 619.2 million KWh from the first six months of the previous year.
On the other hand electric energy exports went down in the first six months by 76.1 percent from 1.481 billion KWh to 464.1 million KWh.
The technological consumption in networks and stations was 3.641 billion KWh, up by 54.5 million KWh, namely 1.5 percent.
Information was collected from about 150 economic operators producing primary and transformed energy and the maximum tolerated error of estimates is +/-3 percent.
