OMV Petrom invested 2 million euro in a lighting system with LEDs
OMV Petrom replaced the conventional lighting system of 345 distribution stations with a new system based on LED units (light emitting diods) following an investment of 2.1 million euro. The Electromagnetica was chosen as supplier of the lighting system following an international bid developed at the beginning of the year.
‘ The increase of energy efficiency represents an important objective both for us, at company level and for Romania and the EU who assumed the reduction of annual electricity consumption by 30% by 2030. This project underlines our concern to improve the energy performance of the company, following a business model responsible and sustainable’ stated Neil Anthony Morgan, member of the Directorate OMV Petrom, responsible for refinery and marketing. In the 345 distribution stations the lighting system was replaced with lighting system with LED in the shop, in the car wash and on the premises.
According to the estimates of the company, the adoption of LED technology in 345 distribution stations Petrom will generate a reduction of 50% of the electricity consumption for lighting, the drop by 11% of the total bill for electricity of each station.
A part of the funds for this project was assured through a funding facility of energy efficiency, a loan line presented to Romania by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BERD) and the EU. Thus. Following a final evaluation of the project by BERD a funding equivalent to 15 of the total value of investment will be offered.
The company hopes to extend the project to the whole chain of Petrom stations.
