Premier Energy acquired Enex Renewable in the sector of renewable energy in Romania

Premier Energy signed the acquistion of the wind park in Nalbant (Tulcea) owned until now by Enex SRL and becomes an important player in the sector of renewable energy in Romania with investments of 55 milion euro in 2022.

According to a press release, this is the seventh transaction of Premier Energy after the six acquisitions and mergers of 2022.

' The complete acquisition of the wind park in Nalbant (Tulcea), worth 13 million euro is a deal spin off type (it meant the acquisition of the wind park, while Enex SRL  has activities of trading and energy supply as well) which completes the portfolio of ' green' megawats of Premier Energy' the press release says.

The project is developed in two stages - phase one (Nalbant I), already operational, with installed power of 13.75 MW (five wind turbines General Electric, with nominal power of 2.75 MW each) and phase 2 (Nalbant II)which is at present under approval and which will double the installed capacity of the park when finalised. Nalbant II is expected to become operational in 2024, with a total capacity of 27.5 MW.

What is remarkable is the yield over the average of the project - it benefits from a heightened location, with wind. Thus, in 2021, Nalbant generated 33,104 MWh electricity, being one of the most efficient parks in Romania.By comparison, the Ecoenergia park, acquired at the beginning of last year by Premier Energy produced 2,204 MWh.But, cumulated, together Nalbant I and II will have a cumulated capacity of 61 MW, show the representatives of the company, the quoted source says.'

'There are seven transactions through which Premier makes its transition to renewable energy safe. We go on with the expansion on the main sector of natural gas in Romania, at the same time, we set a new line of business in green energy. We concentrate on Central and South-East Europe and we already have targets of acquisitions in the neighbouring countries - Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia in the sector of 'renewable energy', said Iuliana Panescu, head of Treasury, Premier Energy.

At the same time, in 2023, the group will develop a wind greenfield in Razboieni. It is a park of 99 MW, installed capacity with 16 turbines, an investment of over 100 million euro. The capital is ensured by the shareholders from the re-invested profit, and the difference is covered  through bank loan.' After the finalisation, the park will be among the first five projects for renewable energy production in Romania' said Panescu.

In 2022, Premier Energy consolidated its ' green' part of the business and vertical development of the group owned by the Czech investment fund, Emma Capital. Starting with 2021 and during 2022, Premier Energy said six deals, type M&A as follows: at the beginning of 2022 they acquired Econeregia and Alive Capital, the latter being the biggest independent player on the renewable energy market. Through the two acquisitions, the group has become active on the electricity market in Romania, as a producer of alternative electricity, agregator and electricity supplier.

Then followed the acquisition of the package in Energia Mileniului III SA through which the Czech group becomes the owner of the wind project in Razboieni. In November, Premier took over, 60% of the central in co-generation on natural gas of 22 MW in Fagaras (Brasov).

The group consolidated the business horizontal by the merger with BERG Sistem Gaz ( December) and acquisition HarGaz (August) which brought to the portfolio over 6,500 new clients and 35 concessions.
