Sobolewski is most adequate to implement Polish model at BVB

The new Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) Managing Director Ludwik Sobolewski is the most adequate person to implement the Polish model at the BVB, the Stock Exchange President Lucian Anghel said on Wednesday.

'I have constantly promoted the Polish model, in which I firmly believe and Mr Sobolewski certainly is the most adequate to replicate and implement it at the Bucharest Stock Exchange, by adjusting the knowledge and experience gained in Warsaw to the development phase and particularities of the Romanian capital market and economic-social climate. We bid him welcome and once again assure him of our support for meeting the set objectives', Anghel is quoted by a BVB release as saying.

The Financial Supervisory Authority on Wednesday approved Sobolewski's nomination for the BVB managing director. The BVB Council had named him to the position at their meeting from this July 1, following a tough recruitment process, the release explained.

'I have accepted this challenge because I have confidence in the potential for development of the capital market in Romania. I thank the Stock Exchange Council and the Financial Supervisory Authority for the opportunity of proving the Bucharest Stock Exchange deserves a better place in the Romanian economy and on the international capital markets', Sobolewski stressed.

Ludwik Sobolewski is a Doctor of Law and was a chairman of the Warsaw Stock Exchange's Board of Directors and its CEO over 2006-13, when it has turned into the biggest stock exchange in Central and Eastern Europe.
