Bucharest, Oradea, Ploiesti and Timisoara, cities where is easier job starting a business
Romanian tentative business people have an easier job starting a business in Bucharest, Oradea, Ploiesti and Timisoara than attempting to do the same in Constanta or Craiova, because VAT registration takes less, a survey by Doing Business reveals.
"It is easier for Romanian entrepreneurs to start a business in Bucharest, Oradea, Ploiesti and Timisoara, where VAT registration takes one week, compared to two weeks in Constanta and almost three weeks in Craiova. Iasi is on the top position by the speed of getting connected to the power grid, Oradea stands out for the superior quality of the land administration, and Timisoara for performing well in the settlement of commercial litigations," the document shows.
According to the survey Bucharest is in the first half of Romanian cities' ranking by most of the assessed indicators, having potential for the efficient management of a large amount of service requests from the private sector.
"Romanian entrepreneurs face various regulatory obstacles depending on where they set up their business. The enforcement of regulations specific to the business milieu and the efficiency of public institutions differ significantly from one city to another. The biggest gaps are related to obtaining building permits, getting connected to the power grid and settling commercial litigations, for instance it takes 156 days to get a building permit in Oradea, twice as fast as in Constanta or Timisoara," the cited source said.
The connection to the power grid takes less than 6 months in Bucharest, Craiova and Iasi, and almost 8 months in Timisoara.
In order to facilitate the procedures for the registration of trading companies, Doing Business recommends the example of Hungary, specifically for Romania to merge VAT registration procedures with the fiscal registration of companies at the Trade Registry Office.
