Business dissolutions decrease by over 31pct Jan..-May 2020 in Romania
The number of business dissolutions in Romania decreased by 31.66% in the first five months of 2020, compared with the same period of the previous year, to 9,675, from 14,157 in January - May 2019, according to data with the National Companies Registry Office (ONRC).
Most of the dissolutions were recorded in Bucharest - 1,810 companies (down by 24.96% from the first five months of 2019) and in the counties of Constanta (533, -25.04%), Timis (516, -20.98%) and Brasov (456, -13.80%).
Compared with the first five months of 2019, the most significant decreases in the number of dissolutions were reported in the counties of Bistrita-Nasaud (-65.85%), Dambovita (-58.06%) and Caras-Severin (-57.94 %), as business dissolutions did not go up in any county in the first five months of 2020 from 2019.
The business area that recorded most of the dissolutions January - May 2020 is the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, where 2,792 dissolutions were reported nationwide. Against the same period of 2019, the dissolutions in this sector decreased by 35.19%.
Construction and manufacturing are two other business areas where a large number of company dissolutions were reported - 987 and 854, respectively.
On the other hand, in May 2020, 1,304 dissolutions were reported, most of them in Bucharest (287) and in the counties of Cluj (69) and Iasi (69).
