Cosmetic Plant 25 years later: 2.2 million Euros investments and a constant business growth

From one single product to over 100 products and 14 ranges
Cosmetic Plant, one of the main local cosmetics producers, has reported a constant business growth in its 25 years of existence and a total of 2.2 million Euros in investments. Furthermore, starting with 1991 and until the present day, the company sold millions of products and exported them in 24 countries, having now in its portfolio 14 different ranges of products.
„Cosmetic Plant was built 25 years ago, in 1991; it was founded by my mother, Mrs. Ileana Mester and has remained a family business. Today, a quarter of a century after its launch, it is already on its third generation and has managed to achieve in this period significant annual increases, absorbing a total investment of over 2.2 million Euros”, said Susana Laszlo, General Manager of Cosmetic Plant.
According to her declarations, only in the last 5 years, the company registered an approx. 67% increase of business, from 1.2 million Euros in 2010 to circa 2 million Euros in 2015.
The company’s spokesperson also mentioned that the financial crisis has not had any impact on the company’s business. Thus, during 2008-2012 Cosmetic Plant registered constant increases.
“This was possible due to a very definite strategy. First of all, we were very careful regarding our spending, of course, without compromising the products’ quality. Moreover, we analyzed very carefully the international trends, as well as the local consuming habits and we permanently adapted our range of products according to these”, said Susana Laszlo.
Regarding the investments in the last 25 years, the company’s representative said that the most important sums were directed towards building and equipping the current production unit, but also towards the permanent increase of the level of technology of the production line.
“The company’s positive evolution was possible due to systematic reinvestment of the profit. Basically, since 2006, we have reinvested the annual profit in order to ensure an efficient development of the company”, declared Susana Laszlo.
Moreover, the business was also sustained by exports, especially starting with the year 2012, when Cosmetic Plant created a growth strategy in this regard. The exports were launched in 2009 and Cosmetic Plant products reached 24 countries, among which Moldova, Hungary, Jordan, Lebanon, Greece, Austria, Portugal, UK and Germany.
Over 100 products developed in 25 years
In 1991, Cosmetic Plant started with 6 ranges of products, and currently, the company’s portfolio includes over 100 products divided into 14 ranges. Three of the initial ranges are still among the company’s essentials – Marigold, Hair Care and Sun Protection – the first one being, even after 25 years, the most sold and appreciated range.
“Though we kept most of the initial ranges, low performing products were either removed or replaced. Also, over the time, some ranges were expanded with new products”, added Susana Laszlo.
According to her affirmations, Cosmetic Plant ranges were always adapted to the market’s new requirements. Thus, in the last few years, the company invested in developing products that would respond the customers ‘needs for using products with natural ingredients or products that provide additional sunscreen protection.
Three anniversary products
In order to mark 25 years of existence, in March, Cosmetic Plant launches three new products with a floral extract basis: daffodil, lily and passion flower.
“Each of the chosen flowers represents an attribute for our business. Thus, the daffodil is synonymous with our tradition, the lily represents our achievements and the passion flower is a symbol of the passion we put in our company. Also, we chose these specific extracts because of their benefic effects on skin: hydration, rejuvenating and anti-irritant action, as well as an antioxidant and skin calming effect”, mentioned the company’s spokesperson.
The three anniversary products will be available in the next 6 months in 14 of the biggest stores from the following networks: Auchan, Cora Romania Hypermarche, DM DrogerieMarkt, Profi, as well as other health stores.
