P&G sells detergent factory in Timisoara to Dalli
The American giant Procter & Gamble sold the detergent factory in Timisoara to the German group Dalli, Mediafax informs. According to industry sources, Dalli will continue to produce P&G detergents for another three years. P&G manufactured laundry detergents Ariel, Tide and Bonux, Fairy dish washing detergent, sold in countries in the area. P&G has been present in Romania since 1992. In 1995 it bought the Timisoara Detergent factory with 40 million dollars.
In 2010 P&G inaugurated at Urlati, Prahova a shampoo factory in which it invested over 100 million dollars, the first greenfield investment of the American group in Romania. The factory has four manufacture lines, three for shampoo and one for other hair care products, while 90% of the production is exported.
P&C bought 25 ha of land for 3 million euros to ensure the area for a future company enlargement. Local administration sources told Mediafax that the producer intended to build at Urlati a warehouse and another factory.
This year Fater company, owned by P&G and Tenimenti Angelini SpA, took over control on Afaceri ACE, the producer and distributor of ACE chlorine from Detergenti company owned by P&G. Afaceri ACE handles the manufacture, packing, distribution, promotion and sales of fabric care products and is owned by Detergenti Timisoara. P&G is also present in Romania with a marketing division.
In August the American company announced the intended sales of 100 brands in the next 2 years, to reduce costs and concentrate on the most important production lines. The 70-80 brands will remain in the P&G portfolio represent 90% of sales and over 95% of company profit in the last 3 years, according to company CEO AG Lafley.
The latest announcement is the sale of Duracell to Berkshire Hathaway in exchange of the shares owned at P&G investment fund.
According to data found on the company site, Dalli Group manufactures laundry and dish washing detergents, cosmetic products in seven factories in Germany, Holland, Spain and Austria.
