The technology industry, benchmark of economic growth

The sector of information and communication technology became a benchmark of economic growth, becoming the most dynamic sector of the Romanian economy so that starting from 3.4% contribution to the GDP in 2011 it got to the double of this percentage – 6.7% of GDP in the first three quarters.

According to the most recent country report of the European Commission, published at the end of February, this share represents one of the highest in the EU. As almost half of the subscriptions to land services of broadband have at least speeds of 100 Mbps, Romania is situated the first in the EU as regards the use of services in broadband with ultraspeed.

The development of the technology industry is tightly connected to the human factor but to legislative stability, infrastructure development or the elimination of corruption at the level of the administrative domain, consideres Sorin Gavanescu, marketing manager at IT Six Global Services, company from Craiova specialised in the development of software for the financial sector, telecom, medical and transport.

‘The IT industry in Romania may grow in an accelerated way by investments of the state in infrastructure, the reform of the education system, the legislative stability, the elimination of corruption at the level of the administrative domain and the public support, of the government for the importance of IT investments. As the IT in Romania represents mainly software services exported to the west, the business brings 100% added value, both economically, socially and culturally. By the creation of well-paid work places, but correlated to the development of some multilingual organisational cultures based on merit, respect, value, diversity and social responsibility, continuous development, youth integration, Romania will get closer to what we perceive as values and western welfare in a quicker way’ he said, quoted by Mediafax.
