Analysis: the market flowers for Martisor and 8th of March- a business of over 20 million euro

An analysis made by the consultancy company Frames on the basis of the statistics data from INS from the Commerce Register, the ministry of finances and the estimates of the companies in this sector shows that,only in eight days, the flower shops in the urban environment will get almost 20 million euro.
The estimate takes into consideration the fact that in the city, the environment where over 90% of the flowers is sold, there live 4.56 million women aged over 18 and at least half of the ladies and young ladies will receive a bouquet of flowers during this period, at a price of on average 40 lei.

According to them, 2020 announces to be the best year in history for the flower market in Romania. The preliminary data show that, in 2019, the business with flowers in our country surpassed 1.5 billion lei, a figure more than the double against 2010 (399.1 million lei).
In 2018, the 3091 active companies in this sector reported business of 1.4 billion lei, up by 170 million lei against the previous year. And the profitability of the sector increased significantly, from 14.7 million lei in 2010 to 99.5 million lei in 2018.
According to the Frames data, in the sector of retail of flowers and plants were recorded in 2018, 473 companies in action, which reported business of almost 400 million lei. The number of companies was almost double against that of 2010, (232) sign of the interest of investors for this sector.
In the sector of retail with flowers, plants and seeds there were in 2018 2,618 companies against 1,048 in 2010. Their business was in 2018 according to the data of the ministry of finances at 1,04 billion lei.
‘The market of flowers in Romania which includes importers, domestic producers and flower traders is in full expansion. The growth of the income of the Romanians and significant investments in marketing, publicity boosted the consumption of flowers, both in specialized shops, especially in the urban environment and the online environment’ the analysts say.
Most specialized companies were in 2018 in Bucure?ti (616), Cluj (183), Ilfov (146), Constan?a (145), Bra?ov (139), Timi?oara (129), Bihor (109), and the least in Mehedin?i (7), Vaslui (22), Tulcea (23), Olt and Ialomi?a (27).

The Frames analysis regarding the business on the flower market in Romania was made on the basis of the financial data presented by the companies recorded at the ministry of finances of the statistics data regarding the dynamics of the companies in the Commerce Register and on the basis of the information in the Institute for National Statistics (INS).
