AOAR: Energy is seen among entrepreneurs, who become suspects when it comes to business
Florin Pogonaru, the president of the Businessmen’s Association of Romania (AOAR) considers that energy and the wish to do business are seen among entrepreneurs but they fear being suspected of crimes. “I have good and bad news about the business world. The good news is that energy is felt among small entrepreneurs, the belief that they do not need connections with City Hall or government to succeed. This spirit was translated by a certain optimism. This thing is encouraging. The bad news is that even these entrepreneurs feel they are immediately suspected of being criminals when they want to do business. They see that the idea of a businessman being a crook has grown lately under the pressure of unfortunate examples,” Pogonaru declared at a press conference.
He pointed out that laws issued by authorities such as ANAF leave from the premise that entrepreneurs are criminals.
“Small entrepreneurs who start a business find out that they are treated like criminals and suspected of being criminals in any gestures made. Consequently they see that laws, at least fiscal ones are issued by authorities like ANAF leaving from the fact that people are criminals, that they must be sorted according to the criminal experience accumulated by ANAF, which found that VAT evasions were made by firms registered in the name of pensioners of homeless people” the AOAR official explained.
He pointed to the fact that ANAF penalized companies who have pensioners on the Administration Board.
“Consequently, ANAF says that any company with pensioners on the Administration Board is severely punished, risking to lose its VAT code, because pensioners are dangerous. Nobody thinks there are also honest businessmen who do honest business,” Pogonaru said.
