BestJobs: A quarter of Romanian employees need new careers because of economic context
About a quarter of Romanian employees say they have to make the first steps toward a new career, since their field or the company they work for are strongly affected by the present economic context, a survey made by an online recruiting platform shows. At the same time, over 20% of them are ready to start from scratch în their career.
Data centralized by BestJobs show that most Romanian employees (70%) choose a new job according to the safety of the activity field and its resistance to external shocks, such as the Covid 19 pandemic.
At the same time, 42% choose a career according to extra-salary benefits, but the possibility to have more spare time also counts (37%) as well as working from home (34%). According to the source mentioned, a quarter of people interviewed exclude jobs in fields like HoReCa, strongly affected by pandemic effects, while 22% consider safer jobs in fields or companies connected online.
Fields considered the least affected by the present sanitary crisis are: IT and telecommunications (54.7%), army, guard and protection (37.8%), medicine and health (37.6%), call center and customer support (35.2%). At the opposite pole we find sport, art and entertainment (5.6%), beauty
services (7,5%) or tourism and food (8%). At general level, a little over 20% of Romanian employees declare they seriously consider to change their field of activity because of Covid 19
pandemic effects, being ready to start their careers from scratch. At the same time, about a quarter say they are compelled to make the first steps toward a new career, since the field or company they work for are strongly affected by the present economic context and as many say they want to work in a safer domain. Most of them are now working in fields like: sales, manufacture, tourism and transports.
The survey was made over July 1-10, 2020, on a sample of 1,282 Internet users in Romania.
