BestJobs: Two out of three Romanian employees succeeded to save money in the last two months

Two out of three Romanian employees (63%) say they succeeded to save money in the last two months, while most of them do not intend to give up this custom after May 15, according to an opinion poll made by BestJobs recruiting company.

The emergency state caught the other 37% of people interviewed without any money savings, a situation which has not changed in the meantime.

The perspective of recession generated by the present health crisis determined respondents to the BestJobs opinion poll to prioritize expenses and save the same amount of money (23%) or even more than before the Covid 19 pandemic (26%).

The amounts saved come mostly from expenses they would have made for transport, if they are now working from home, for city outings or for purchases that are not necessary now.

Of those who saved in the two months of emergency state, 59% consider to continue saving, 23.2% will spend part of their saving on small purchases, 16.5% have in view important purchases while 11% want to go on holiday.

60% of respondents say the first thing they consider doing when the emergency state is over is to leave on a short holiday in the country or abroad (38.6%), to meet friends in town (31.5%) or to go to a mall, theatre or cinema (28.5%).

Professionally, 34.3% of employees who answered the BestJobs poll say the first thing they would do after the return to normal activity is to look for another job and then resign. Another 18% of respondents consider asking for salary increase  (8,8%) or becoming entrepreneurs (9.1%). 73.7% of respondents do not think their employer would take any measures about them upon their return, but 14% expect salary cuts , whole 5.2% think they could even be fired in the context in which many companies will recover with difficulty after this crisis period.

The opinion poll was made over April 20-May 4, 2020, on a sample of 1,042 Internet users in Romania.

BestJobs is one of the most important online recruiting platforms in Romania.
