Business forum Romania-Greece at the CCIB Palace, Friday 18 January

Following the meeting between prof.univ.ing.Sorin Dimitriu,the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bucharest (CCIB)and Aristotelis Xenakis,the new minister for economic and commercial affairs of the Embassy of the Hellenic Republic to Romania there was settled a concrete programme for action regarding the boosting of bilateral commerce and stimulation of Romanian-Greek cooperation.

The series of events will be opened by a business forum Romania-Greece which will take place on Friday 18 January 2019,at the CCIB Palace, due to the visit to Romania of the two economic Greek missions,one from Serres and the other covering companies from the whole country. The Greek delegations are made of representatives of some companies which work in agriculture and food industry (traditional produce of Kephalonia and Crete,fruit, fresh vegetables, sweets,pasties,sauces, dairy produce,vinegar,beer and other drinks) tourism, cosmetics and food supplements. The event will be organised  by the Bucharest chamber of commerce, the Bureau for Economic and Commercial Affairs from the Hellenic Embassy to Romania and HRCC.On this occasion, there will be signed the collaboration agreement between CCIB and CCI Serres.

This event will be followed by the organisation,during the first quarter of this year of ‘The Day of business opportunities’  dedicated to the Hellenic Republic and the ‘Days of Greek produce in Romania’ occasion to identify key domains besides the traditional ones,where projects that can contribute to the development of bilateral changes can be found.

Background information

According to the information sent by the Bureau for Public Relations of CCIB on 30 September 2018 the value of commercial exchanges between Romania and the Hellenic Republic was 1,483.2 million euro (+ 15.3%against the same period of the previous  year)out of which the deliveries to that country were worth 772.6mil.euro (+20.1%) and the Romanian imports were 710.6 million euro(+10.6%). This volume of exchanges of goods places Greece 18th among the countries of destination of the Romanian goods and the same place for the countries of origin of the goods coming to our country. On 30 November 2018 in our country there were 7,290 companies with Greek capital,with 1.36 billion euro subscribed social capital, the Hellenic Republic being 9th in the top of foreign investors in Romania.
