‘Competitive Romania: a project for sustainable economic growth’ will be launched on Tuesday
‘Competitive Romania: a project for sustainable economic growth’ is a document-strategy of the government to be launched on Tuesday at the Parliament Palace, event attended by president Klaus Iohannis, the BNR governor Mugur Isarescu and premier Dacian Ciolos.
According to a press release of the government, the document may be ‘improved’following the debates and the public consultations as the aim of the government is ‘ the improvement of the initial form to get societal consensus on the priority areas and the concrete measures which must be taken with a view to reaching the objective of sustainable economic growth’.
The event organised by the government of Romania through the ministry of economy will benefit from the speech of president of Romania Klaus Iohannis, premier Dacian Ciolos, the BNR governor Mugur Isarescu, the chairman of the Romanian Academy Ionel Valentin Vlad, the viceprime-minister of economy Costin Borc,the minister of environment Cristiana Pasca Palmer.
Political leaders,premier Dacian Ciolos and the governor of the National Bank will go at the beginning of the week to a new round of consultations, the agenda including Brexit and the country project post-accession in the context of the referendum in the UK.
The new country strategy for Romania will take into consideration the European context, the head of state said.
‘Now this is the moment to concentrate on what follows but as well on what follows in Romania and I said that there is the need for a new post-accession project of country. It was not done in 2007, it was not done later. Surely, we are preparing to celebrate 10 years since accession and we are starting to speak about – it is good to do it now at least- the elaboration of a post-accession strategy’ Klaus Iohannis said.
SNA 2016 – 2020 keeps the assumption that all institutions and public authorities, including public entreprises and other institutions under the coordination, and the authority of the public institutions will follow the values: political will, integrity, the priority of the public interest and transparency.
The purpose of the SNA is the promotion of integrity through the rigorous use of the normative and institutional framework with a view to preventing corruption in Romania.
The document has a multidisciplinary character and is addressed to all public institutions representing the legislative, judicial power, the local public authorities, the business environment and civil society the press release says.
‘The impact of the strategy aims at such elements as including Romania in the EU average regarding the perception and the public mentality connected to the corruption phenomenon, the reduction by at least 50% of the cases of fraud and corruption of the procedure of public acquisitions, the implementation of the preventive measures to fight corruption in over 80% of the public institutions and companies and Romania’s accession to the anti-bribery Convention of OCDE’ the representatives of the ministry say.
The main actions of this objective are the continuation of Romania’s measures to become a fully-fledged member of OCDE and the work groups connected to the respective organisation and mostly in the anti-bribery work group.
This also includes the accession to the OCDE Convention and the implementation, identification, discouragement and the sanction of anti-competition agreements, the implementation of the integrity plans including as compulsory requirements for public entreprises the exchange of good practice in the implementation of the programmes of integrity between the private and the public environment, the organisation of public consultations between the representatives of the public sector and the business environment with regards to the national anti-corruption agenda and the public policies with impact on the economic activity and the dissemination of the policies and the anti-bribery programmes developed at the level of the companies by presenting them with the possible contractors and suppliers and the request to observe some equivalent standards.
