EC vicepresident Maros Sefcovic visits Romania

Maros Sefcovic, the vicepresident of the European Commission, in charge with energy union will be in Ploiesti and Bucharest over September 27-28. He will begin his visit by participating in a summit on energy, organized by ASPEN Institute in Ploiesti.

Sefcovic will meet Mihai Tudose, Romania’s premier, Toma Florin Petcu, the minister of energy and members of specialised commissions and European business of Romania’s Parliament. The high European official will also have meetings with representatives of start-up and research companies, to discuss social innovation to support a sustainable energy sector.

On September 28, vicepresident Sefcovic will participate in the CESEC conference (Central and South East European Gas Connectivity - Interconnection in the gas sector in Central and South-Eastern Europe), to discuss the state of gas connectivity sector and extend regional cooperation beyond the natural gas field as well as for the memorandum signing ceremony.

Before beginning the visit, Sefcovic declared: “I congratulate Romania for having fulfilled objectives for 2020, in the field of renewable energy and for the excellent progress in reaching energy efficiency objectives. I am looking forward to talks about the way in which the package “Clean energy for all Europeans” can help Romania achieve energy transition.  I would like to point out the need to continue plans bout reforming the energy market in Romania, including the development of a regulation frame oriented to the future, besides improving interconnectivity with neighbour countries.”
