Economy minister Constantin Nica meets Chinese energy minister Wu Xinxiong

Economy minister Constantin Nica met the minister of energy from People’s China, Wu Xinxiong on Wednesday, June 11. Organized at the National Administration for Energy, the meeting had in view to consolidate bilateral collaboration in the energy field, a press release sent by the ministry shows.

The topics approached at the meeting included:

- the development of the energy sector at global and regional levels

- project of units 3 and 4 at Cernavoda

- Tarnita-Lapustesti, the hydropower accumulation plant

  • Rovinari thermopower plant

  • modernization of Hunedoara Energy Complex

 

“The meeting with the Chinese minister of energy represents the confirmation of good political relations between Romania and China. The two premiers, Victor Ponta and Li Keqiang established in November past the main cooperation domanis between out countries - energy, agriculture, road and railroad infrastructure. In the field of energy, technical economic talks continue and I am sure that most projects will be implemented and benefits will be visible at the level of national economy by creating new jobs and relaunching industry,” said Constantin Nita, the minister of economy.

 

Before meeting minister Wu Xinxiong, Constantin Nita had meetings with representatives of the main Chinese companies interested in developing projects in Romania, in the field of energy: China Coal, International Engineering Company, china General Nuclear Power, China Gezhouba Group, China National electric Engineering Co, China Huadian.

 

On Friday, minister Nita will meet representatives of Sinohydro Company.

 

Reactors 3 and 4 from Cernavoda

 

The completion og Units 3 and 4 from Cernavoda Nuclear Plant represent the best solution to cover the power deficit after 2020, both from the technical economic point of view and the completion term and from the prospect of using domestic resources and the existing national infrastructure developed on the CANDU type technology.

 

Development of new power group at Rovinari

 

China Huadian Engineering participated in the selection procedure for an investor and was chosen to set up an IPP type joint venture (Independent Power Producer) for building a power group of 500 MW at Rovinari, based on lignite from Oltenia Energy Complex.

This group will renew production capacities from the National Power Grid with significant benefits for the area, at economic and social levels, by setting up jobs.

 

Tarnita-Lapustesti accumulation plant

 

It is a strategic energy unit made to balance the NAtional Power Grid and ensure the capacity reserve with potential regional implications.The Energy Department began in 2013 an ample process of attracting investors in the project and set up Hydro Tarnita company.

 

Rehabilitation of units 3 and 4 from Deva thermopower plant

 

The rehabilitation of the two power groups will ensure better functioning of the two groups according to environment demands imposed by EU regulations. They will also contribute to the consolidation of the National Power Grid.

 

More
