EP Nica (PSD): Romania to benefit from EU subsidies for economic relaunch
Dan Nica, the leader of the Romanian social-democrat party (PSD) delegation in the European Parliament, declared on Thursday that Romania will be one of the “main” beneficiaries of European subsidies to be granted for economic relaunch and transition to neutral economy from the climate point of view.
“Romania will receive 13.5 billion euro as part of Facilities for Recovery and Resilience, double the amount received by Bulgaria and Hungary, double compared to Czech Republic and Belgium, and half of the amount received by Poland. The main beneficiaries of the fund will be Italy and Spain, with 63 and 61 billion euros. Romania is the seventh allocation among member states, from the total of 310 billion euros, subsidies within Pillar 1 of Next Generation EU program. As for the Fund for Just Transition, Romania receives 3.3 billion euros, being the third beneficiary after Poland (6 billions) and Germany (3.8 billions)” Nica explained according to a PSD press release.
The Euro MP pointed out that the substantial share granted for subsidies is essential for Romania, as part of the budget with which Next Generation EU will benefit from'.
“The European Council held next week will be decisive to maintain the subsidy-loan ration as proposed by the Commission, based on our application in the European Parliament. President Iohannis will have to negotiate the proposal with the other EU heads of state and government so as not to allow drops of those figures or changes of the ratio between subsidies and loans,” Dan Nica added.
At the same time he expressed his clear opposition towards recent attempts to reduce the level for the cohesion policy, as it does not represent exchange currency for other elements part of the relaunch plan.”
