France's Embassy launches Sustainable Cities - Examples of Good Practice competition

The French Embassy in Bucharest launched on Monday the fourth edition of the competition for good practices on sustainable cities.

According to the initiators, the competition aims to support the actions taken by local authorities in Romania that are part of the dynamics of sustainable development and ecological transition in terms of waste management, energy efficiency and circular economy, urban mobility, water and sewerage, urban reconversion and heritage rehabilitation.

"The project competition is addressed to the administrative-territorial units in Romania (counties, municipalities, cities, communes), which have made or will initiate an innovative project related to the sustainable development of their territory. Within this competition, the interested administrative-territorial units can submits projects that have actually been completed (in the period 2018-2022), are in progress or that are mature enough to benefit from European co-financing", reads a press release sent on Monday.

The competition rules and the registration form are available on the website of the French Embassy in Romania, and the files must be submitted by Friday, June 17.

The jury will select two administrative-territorial units, one for each of the two categories: "Small and medium-sized cities" (cities and communes) and "Large cities and counties" (counties and municipalities).

The awards ceremony will take place on the occasion of the "Sustainable City" Conference, which will be organized on July 4 and 5 by the French Embassy, the French Institute in Romania, the French Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Romania (CCIFER) and Business France.
