German Foreign Minister to visit Romania on Friday

Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock will be in Bucharest and Constanta on Friday to co-chair the conference of the International Moldova Support Platform and to meet with Romanian officials.

Alongside her Romanian counterpart Bogdan Aurescu and French Secretary of State for Development, Francophonie and International Partnerships Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, Annalena Baerbock will co-chair the second ministerial conference of the International Moldova Support Platform, the German Embassy in Bucharest announced.

The officials will call on the participating countries to continue and develop the support measures for the Republic of Moldova agreed upon at the first ministerial conference held on April 5 in Berlin, such as those referring to the situation of Ukraine refugees, border management, energy security and economic resilience.

In the afternoon, Minister Annalena Baerbock will meet with Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca and Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu for discussions on the bilateral and European policy, consultations on the situation in Ukraine, and on ways to step up security, economic, climate and energy cooperation.

The two Foreign Ministers will sign the first day envelope with the commemorative stamp issued on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Friendship Treaty. A meeting with the president of the Germans' Democratic Forum of Romania is scheduled afterwards.

In the first part of the evening, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock will travel to Constanta, where she will join local officials and representatives of German companies to discuss grain exports from Ukraine via the port of Constanta.
