Government debt dropped to 50.3% of GDP in March

The government debt dropped, in March 2022, to 593.972 billion lei, from 596.9 billion lei the previous month, according to data centralized by the Finance Ministry.

Reported to GDP, the public debt dropped slightly to 60.3% from 50.6% at the end of February.

 

Medium and long term debt dropped to 573,586 billion lei in March, while the short term one went up to 20.386 billion lei.Most of that debt of 491.553 billion lei, was represented by state bonds. Loans amounted to 91.688 billion lei.

 

262.988 billion lei was the public debt in lei, 284.284 billion lei was the public debt in euros and 45,293 billion lei was the equivalent in US dollars.

 

The debt of the central public administration was 577.122 billion lei at the end of March, of which 556.761 billion lei on medium and long term. The largest part of that debt was in euro (280.134 billion lei) and in lei (250.290 billion lei).

 

The local public administration debt was 16.849 billion lei, of which 15.824 billion lei on medium and long term.

 

According to Finance Ministry data, the foreign debt of the public administration was 303.630 billion lei (25.7% of GDP) of which 298.761 billion lei the foreign debt of the central public administration and 4.869 billion lei the foreign debt of the local public administration.
