Government recommends 15pct cut in arrears of business operators with state capital, assets
The Government has approved on Wednesday a Memorandum recommending a 15pct reduction in outstanding payments from those scheduled at end-2015 for the business operators with capital or assets owned directly or indirectly by the state.
"There are some imperative recommendations in the Memorandum arguing that reducing outstanding payments, arrears, must be a key objective in achieving the budgets of the respective companies. We have a reduction target of 15pct in outstanding payments from those scheduled at end-2015. The way through which this percentage can be calculated is cumulative for all companies subordinated to a ministry. That means one of the companies may have a reduction in arrears of more than 15pct, another may have a smaller reduction, but the average per ministry or administrative unit that manages the respective company must be 15pct," explained the Government's spokesman Dan Suciu in a briefing at Victoria Palace.
According to him, in the next period a "list of measures to attain those results is expected from the companies subordinated to ministries that should take into account the Memorandum approved by the Government."
"The situation of arrears remains one of concern for the Government. At end-2014 arrears stood at 3.4 billion lei. The target for 2015 should have been a 45pct reduction. This target was not met. We are somewhere at an estimated level of over 2 billion lei. We will see the year will end to see to what exact figure the 15pct cut is applied. I think it is a reasonable percentage," the spokesman added.
As for the list of companies that have the greatest losses, Suciu said these are 14.
"There are 14 companies that have big losses — five subordinated to the Ministry of Transport, five to the Ministry of Economy, three to the Ministry of Energy and one to the Ministry of Communications," said Dan Suciu.
