Hans Klemm: Priority US- Romania economic exchanges will be agriculture and defence
Hans Klemm, the US ambassador to Bucharest, declared on Tuesday that priority economic exchanges between the US and Romania will be in agriculture and defence. The diplomat pointed out that after the March meeting with representatives of the American-Romanian Business Council (AMRO) will follow a second meeting when several American companies will be present to discuss the consolidation of economic relations between the two states.
“I was grateful to the prime minister and the whole government for the generous welcome made to the American Business Council in March. I think there are good prospects to develop investments of American companies in Romania. This meeting will be followed by another one in the Fall, in October, when we hope that more American companies will come to Romania. We hope to increase investment exchanges between the two countries,” said the ambassador, present at the National Library, at the varnishing of the photo exhibition “An American visionary: John F.Kennedy’s life and time”.
The priority fields are agriculture and defence, the diplomat pointed out.
This allows American companies to work with Romanian defence ones in the development of new, modern equipment, which will help Romania and NATO ally countries , the US included, Klemm added.
Asked whether the US president will come to Romania this month, the ambassador declared he had not been informed about it.
He added that the president will go to Brussels for the NATO meeting, then will he will have meetings concerning G7 in Europe and had no plans to come to Romania.
