Historic jump by India in Ease of Doing Business

  • India registers its highest ever increase în Ease of Doing Business Rankings

  • World Bank's rankings acknowledge India's reform trajectory under PM Modi

India has jumped 30 places to reach the 100thspot this year, in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report, in a reflection of reform-driven improvement in access to credit, power supplies and protection of minority investors, a press release sent to ACTMedia by the Indian Embassy în Bucharest informs.

 

This is historic for it is the highest jump by any country in the doing business and acknowledges India’s reform trajectory under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed India's massive improvement in the World Bank 'Ease of Doing Business' rankings as the "outcome of the all-round & multi-sectoral reform push of Team India.".  Following are the main factors that contributed to this historic jump:



  • the business environment improved at fifth fastest pace in the world;  

  • among the top 10 ímprovers’ globally, having done better in 8 out of 10 indicators;

  • jumped 53 places from 172 to 119 on ease of paying taxes;

  • leapt over to 4th rank on protecting minority investors;

  • moved 15 places from 44 to 29 on ease of businesses getting credit; and  

  • most significant jump is in taxation policy.
