Iohannis: I had a very good dialogue with Maia Sandu; we continue to provide major aid to the Republic of Moldova

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, was received, on Tuesday, in Cotroceni, by Klaus Iohannis. “There are only a few months left until the European parliamentary elections in June and it is essential that democracy wins again in Europe” – is the message posted on the Facebook page of Iohannis, after the meeting with Maia Sandu.

Iohannis  also announced that he had “a very good dialogue with Maia Sandu about the major aid” that Romania gives to the Republic of Moldova, including in terms of joining the European Union.

It is the first meeting in a series of consistent meetings that I will have over the next three days with presidents, prime ministers and leaders of the European institutions, who are these days in Bucharest on the occasion of the Congress of the European People’s Party. There are only a few months left until the European Parliament elections in June and it is essential that democracy wins again in Europe and that movements based only on the nostalgia of the past and offering false solutions for the people do not gain strength. I am convinced that the discussions and debates in Bucharest will outline a solid vision for the future of Europe, which will meet the expectations of our citizens for a better life, safety and prosperity”, said Iohannis on Facebook.

Maia Sandu also met with Romanian Prime Minister Ciolacu on Tuesday and is going to participate in the Congress of the European People’s Party, which will take place in Bucharest, on March 6-7, and will bring together over 2,000 delegates from over 40 countries, including the president the European Commission, the president of the European Parliament, heads of state and government, party presidents from the EPP side, but also the European commissioners who are part of the political family of the popular Europeans.
