Leanca: Romania helps Republic of Moldova through concrete facts, not only with statements
The Republic of Moldova's Prime Minister Iurie Leanca on Friday thanked Prime Minister Victor Ponta for Romania's support given to the European course of his country, mentioning that it is not limited to the statements, but also materializes in concrete facts.
Iurie Leanca said that between the two prime ministers there is an almost permanent communication. 'Today's visit is extremely important to us, one more proof that Romania is backing us consistently and selflessly, is helping us advance on our European course and not only with supportive and sympathetic statements, but also with financial resources, transfer of expertise, and also very targeted approaches,' the head of the government in Chisinau told in a joint press conference with his counterpart from Bucharest.
The press conference of the two prime ministers was preceded by a face-to-face meeting and a one of delegates, where they discussed topics related to the European agenda of the Republic of Moldova, but also projects in energy security, education and infrastructure.
Referring particularly to the cooperation of the two states in the field of education, Iurie Leanca announced that on Friday a cooperation agreement between the relevant ministries was signed, and highlighted the possibility of applying the spirit and principles of the Erasmus Programme between the two states, but mentioned that will not happen to the detriment of scholarships offered by Romania to the Moldovan youths.
Romania's most important eastern partner is Republic of Moldova
Romania's most important eastern partner is the Republic of Moldova and Bucharest rallies to the positions of the European Union on the situation in Ukraine, said Premier Victor Ponta,Friday in Chisinau.
'Strategically speaking, for Romania, the most important eastern partner of the European Union is still the Republic of Moldova, so our limited power must be put to use fully to support the development of Moldova's relationship with the European Union. I want Romania to use all its diplomatic and political resources within the European Union to support the Republic of Moldova. Otherwise, we rally to the EU's position on Ukraine or other countries of the region,' said Ponta.
The Premier declared that the Government of Romania 'fully' supported the European Union's position and that of the American partners that sought a rapid solution to end violence in Ukraine and initiate a democratic programme for this country. 'Romania, as all countries in the European Union, will support the peaceful and democratic development of Ukraine,' added Ponta.
