PM Ponta: US strategic partnership going very well on politics, defence, less so on economics

Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta said on Wednesday there is need of an 'update' to the commercial side of the roadmap set in the Strategic Partnership with the United States, since things in that area do not go as well as in the political and defence sector.

'I want to ask you all, these days we will make an update to the commercial side of the roadmap and, as having established with the United States' Department of Commerce, we should have as many as possible investments not only from Europe but from the United States as well, because our strategic partnership with America is going very well on politics and defence and it does not go well on economics,' Ponta told the ministers in the beginning of the Government's sitting.

He added, 'I very much want that any barriers should be removed and that the conditions should be created so that the big American investors, not only in energy, might see in Romania the best place for investments in this region'.
