Professor Mitroi about tax on business figure: It is a blow for companies
The tax on business figure is probably a blow for companies, and real economy will not see these things with good eyes, said Adian Mitroi, professor of behavioural finance at the Academy of Economic Studies (ASE), on Thursday.
“In point of economic correlations, maybe economy reacts to low taxes and to economic growth less than we expected. So, one should shift to what economic theory says: you tax higher, in the profit and loss account, where manipulation, not necessarily negative, of financial figures is more difficult. If you apply taxes on the business figure there is no room for evasion or fiscal optimization. This is for sure. In exchange, this is a blow for business and companies. Real economy will not see with good eyes these things because business figure is conjectural, it depends on external factors a lot,” Mitroi said. He pointed out that rulers have seen they do not get incomes according to expectations.
“I understand rules because they do not get incomes according to expectations of economic growth and drops of taxes. They too are right. Territories where we are operating now are not cartographed in terms of fiscal accommodation,” Mitroi added.
Tax on profit could be replaced by a tax on business figure in two or three stages, as of next year, according to the new ruling program.
