Romania participates in the jubilee edition of ITB, from March 9 to 13, as partner country

Romania will participate from March 9 to 13, as a partner country, in the jubilee edition of ITB (Internationale Tourismusbörse) Berlin, the world's biggest travel fair.

"2016 is a very important year both for Romania's presence at ITB, as well as for the event itself. This year, attending the ITB will be 180,000 participants from over 180 countries. In 2016, ITB has gathered 20 partner countries, including Romania. The central idea is that Danube unites. Romania will thus point, at its stand, several reference events.

"On the very official opening [March 9], we will hold a Romanian traditional evening with gastronomic specialties, with special guests," Anca Pavel-Nedea, President of the National Tourism Authority, told AGERPRES.

In 2016, the largest travel fair in the world, ITB Berlin, is celebrating its 50th anniversary, marking a global successful story "made in Berlin". Romania has been present at ITB Berlin with a national stand ever since 1970. The area of Romania's stand at ITB Berlin is some 400 square meters in 2016.

In January 2016, according to official data, Romania was visited by over 11,410 German tourists, with most of them, 9,400, in Bucharest and in other county capitals, placing Germany on the 3rd place in terms of number of incoming tourists, after Italy and Israel.

ITB is a traditional travel fair in the world, with over 11,000 exhibitors from 180 countries and 178,971 visitors, of whom 110,857 specialist visitors in 2010.
