Romanian-Slovak economic and trade cooperation, present and perspectives, debated at the Business Forum organized by CCIB
The Bucharest and Bratislava Chambers of Commerce initialled a Memorandum of Understanding on identifying business opportunities between the active companies of the two countries, a release of the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB) sent on Monday informs.
"I believe the economic relations between our countries can know a significant development by focusing on the cooperation in the industry area, including by getting involved in projects on third markets. The skills and recognition which we, and you, are enjoying at international level, as well as a certain complementarity of our economies are arguments which support this idea. We can envisage, in this formula, projects in countries of the Middle East, Southeast Asia and North Africa," President of the CCIB Sorin Dimitriu stated in the opening of the Romanian-Slovak Business Forum recently held in Bucharest, on the sidelines of the economic mission organised by the Bratislava Regional Chamber of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
According to the quoted source, the main objectives of the event were aimed at the development of bilateral trade relations and the identification of new business opportunities with the following Slovak companies: Kerametal Co. Ltd. Bratislava (refractory products and raw materials for their production, armored / auxiliary vehicles, simulators for motor vehicles and aviation, campaign hospitals, optoelectronic equipment and systems, natural gas consultancy services), Metron Co. Ltd Bratislava (special optic and optoelectric systems, service and repair of laser equipment, metrology) and Triton Ltd. (parking and control systems for Internet parking without vouchers, successfully used in: business centers, shopping centers, parks entertainment, stadiums, multipurpose halls, street parking, hotels, etc.).
Within the official session of the event in Bucharest, the Memorandum of Understanding regarding the collaboration between CCIB and SCCI was signed by the presidents of the two organisations, namely Sorin Dimitriu and Igor Junas.
The official data reveals that, at the end of 2018, the Romanian-Slovak commercial exchanges stood at 3.170 billion euro (+10.8 percent compared to 2017), of which 1.270 billion euro (+18.9 percent against last year) in Romanian exports and 1.899 billion euro (+6.4 percent against previous year) in imports from Slovakia.
On 31 December 2018, according to the National Trade Register Office (ONRC), there where 714 companies running on Slovak capital, with a total invested capital worth 38.3 million euro.
