Romanians want more economic stability and less corruption in EU - Study
Romanians want EU to do more to solve problems like economic stability, reducing corruption, public policy and education, according to a study of the European Committee of Regions, which shows how Europe is perceived in regions and towns.
As for preoccupations concerning corruption and the role of laws in the state, Romania ranks third among EU countries, after Bulgaria and Slovakia.
“Mentioning education is interesting because it does not appear among major preoccupation of the population in relation with national authorities. Romanians show increased confidence compared with other administrative levels. Partially at least, this is due to the very low level of confidence in regional authorities and about worries Romanians have about their countries are connected to economic stability, education or domestic policies,”the authors of the study show.
A significant dissatisfaction was expressed in Romania about corruption and the rule of law.
The initiators of the report also elaborated a comparison between the need of solidarity and preoccupation about migration. Romanians rank last among EU countries for migration, while solidarity records a higher level of preoccupation.
The members included in the study show enthusiasm towards EU, but also feel disconnected from EU.
At EU level, respondents declared they have faith in their local and regional politicians , more than they trust EU or national politicians.
