Royal House organizes a symbolic trip by the royal train on December 1

Princess Margareta and Prince Radu, accompanied by Princess Maria and Prince Nicolae, will go on a symbolic trip by the royal train on December 1, Romania's National Day, to pay homage to the sovereigns of the Greater Romania, King Ferdinand and Queen Maria of Romania, the Royal House reports in a press release. At the same time, Peles Castle will host on Saturday an annual ceremony to honour the diplomatic corps. 

According to the schedule of the events unveiled on Friday at Elisabeta Palace, the royal train left Baneasa Station en route to Sinaia on Saturday at 10:00 am. Also invited to join in the trip are Archduchess Maria Magdalena of Austria, the daughter of Princess Ileana, and his husband, Baron Hanns-Ulrich von Holzhausen. 

During the trip, Princess Margareta and Prince Radu entertain members of the diplomatic corps, public life figures as well as elderly and children who were helped under projects conducted by the Princess Margareta of Romania Foundation. 

On Saturday, at 17:00hrs, Princess Margareta and Prince Radu represented King Mihai I at the annual ceremony honouring the diplomatic corps. King Mihai delivered his first address to the diplomatic corps accredited in Romania in December 1940. 

Attending the ceremony were Princess Maria, Prince Nicolae and the apostolic nuncio. 

A message from King Mihai I was read out by Princess Margareta and Prince Radu in English, French, German, Spanish, Arabic and Czech. The event was held in the Hall of Honour of Peles Castle. 

After the ceremony, the diplomatic corps was invited to a diplomatic dinner, a tradition of the Romanian Royal House since the 20th century. The brass band of the Henri Coanda Air Force Academy staged a concert.
