Study: at European level, one out of three children live in unhealthy buildings
At European level, one out of three children live in unhealthy buildings, which exposes them to high risk of facing health issues as well as asthma, stated in a press release Mihai Moia, the executive manager of the Association for the Promotion of Energy Efficiency in Buildings (ROENEF), quoting the data of a study made in the domain – Healthy Homes Barometer 2019.
‘Ensuring a domestic good climate in schools is essential to protect the educational process of the children and their health. The quality of the air could stimulate the performance of the student up to 15% with a positive effect on the speed of work, the level of attention and concentration’ said Mihai Moia.
In Europe over 65 million students and almost 4.5 million teachers spend between 170 and 190 annual days in school and approximately 70% of the time is spent inside the classroom.
‘The energy efficiency has become a priority at global level, as well as the policies of the European Commission which Romania has to implement. The concrete measures of energy efficiency cannot be delayed at national level, especially în buildings, where we spend 90% of the time.The rise of energy proficiency will lead to the reduction of bills and to the improvement of health and work productivity, due to better quality of the interior air’ the experts of the project Efficient Romania organized by Energy Policy group said.
Efficient Romania proposes to support the meeting of targets of energy efficiency of Romania assumed at European level a? regards the reduction of carbon emissions and the growth of energy efficiency, both through campaigns of information and education, and through the making of concrete projects for the deep renovation of public buildings, in different regions of the country.
