Study GfK: almost a quarter of the Romanians use a professional when they want to do up; 76% do it themselves

Over three quarters of the Romanians (76%) who live in the city prefer to do up their houses themselves or together with another member of their family or friend and almost a quarter (24%) use a professional painter, especially women, show the results of a study GfK Romania about the purchasing behaviour on the market of emulsion paints.

.According to the research published on Wednesday, 7 out of 10 Romanians buy paint from the big DIY stores while the warehouses for construction materials are preferred by 18% and the specialized shops near the house by 12% of the interviewees.

The annual study GfK shows that, by gender,  men are those who choose to paint themselves or together with another member of the family or a friend, and the majority of women require, mostly the help of a professional.

At general level, 76% of the Romanians who live in the city prefer to paint themselves or together with another member of the family and 24% use a professional painter.

Almost  in half of the cases (47%) the paints are bought, usually together with a member of the family. Similarly, 41% of the interviewees say they go alone to the store to buy the paints,  and 10% of the cases the hired painter is directly involved in the purchasing process.

The GfK study monitors the trends and evolution of the main indicators for performance on the market of emulsion paints in Romania, in 2018. The sample of the study was 800 interviewees, out of whom 500 people who did up their houses and 300 painters from the urban environment.
