Survey: 85% of Romanians consider Romanian products should be bought first of all

About 85% of Romanians consider that in the present context Romanian products should be bought first of all, while 30% prefer to work in  companies with Romanian capital instead of foreign ones, according to a BestJobs survey.

“About 85% consider that in the present context, Romanian products should be bought first of all, to support local business. For that reason, more than half of respondents to the BestJobs survey say that, since the beginning of the pandemic, they prefer to buy more Romanian products. 20% of respondents say  they did not intend to buy mainly Romanian products, but as many people say they do not pay attention to the origin of products they buy, choosing the brands they used to buy before the pandemic.

The change of behaviour among Romanians who choose Romanian products to support local businesses comes in the context in which about 54% consider that companies with Romanian capital were more affected by pandemic effects than foreign firms. A little over a quarter of respondents consider that a Romanian company would represent a more secure job than a foreign company, while 38% say they do not know where they could find a job they should consider secure in the present context.

Even so, 30% of respondents to the BestJobs survey say they prefer to work in a company with Romanian capital instead of a foreign company, while a quarter say they are more satisfied if the employer is a state owned company. Over 46% of respondents are already hired by Romanian companies, while 35% work in foreign companies, and 5% are employed by state companies or institutions.

As doe the evolution of the company they work for in the next period of time, 40% expect a recovery after the difficult situation of the first semester. In exchange, 12% fear that the situation of the company will  continue to deteriorate, and 10% count on stagnation. Prospects are uncertain for more than 20% of employees who answered the BestJobs survey, being difficult to consider what would happen with the employer and what would be their professional situation until the end of the year.

Signals at employee level are positive, however. A third consider there are chances that the employer they work for should recruit this year, while 23% count on the stagnation of the number of employees in the company.

The survey was made over July 5-20, on a sample of 1,024 Internet users.

Bestjobs is one of the biggest online recruiting platforms in Romania, with over 2.5million professionals connected to the labor market and over 25,000 active jobs both in the country and abroad.
