Survey: a quarter of the employers freeze salaries this year, and a third offer an increase of at most 5%

One out of four employers will not offer any salary increase this year, although the majority of the employees hope to earn more, and 35.5% state that the salary increases planned for 2020 will be at most 5%, show the data of the survey made on the recruitment platform BestJobs.

Salaries higher by 10% will be offered by 13% of the employers and two out of ten have budgeted increase up to 15% for the employees in the company. Only 6.5% of the interviewees stated they will increase the salaries over this limit.

At the same time, almost one quarter of the employers say that the increase of the minimum salary starting with 1st of January will affect their budget of personnel, so that they will take measures such as the reduction of the expenses with extra-salary benefits, the combination of certain functions, the automation of processes and the restructuring positions.

For the first quarter six out of ten employers will open up to 10 new positions, and one out of ten will open between 1o and 20 positions. For each of them, 42% of the employers will  recruit between 2 and 5 employees, and a third will open positions which will be covered by one employee.

” ‘The most wanted specializations for which personnel will be recruited will be sales (55%), production (29%), administration (28%), engineering (25.8%) and logistics (19.3%). Similarly, the companies need employees, specialized in financial-accountancy domain (19%), customer service (17%), management and consultancy (12.3%), quality control (11.9%), constructions (11.9%), business development (11.4%) , the survey shows.

Half (51.6%) of the employers estimate that most  recruitment will be made for the level entry-level (0.2 years experience) and 42% will need employees who have 2-5 years of experience (middle level).

The survey was made between 06-20 January 2020 on a sample of 214 small, medium and big companies in Romania.
