Survey: Romanian employees believe they deserve wages by RON 1,000 higher

Romanian employees believe they are deserve wages by RON 1,000 higher than they currently earn, and want the average salary to start from a minimum of RON 2,844, according to a survey conducted by an online recruiting platform, romaniajournal.ro reads.

The survey reads that wage expectations have increased in the past year, due to the favourable economic development that has led to higher consumption and thus to a higher standard of living. Last year expectations aimed RON 2,550 wages, now the expectations aim at RON 2,844. Furthermore, the interviewees say they deserve wages higher by about 40% for the current jobs, on average more by about RON 1,000, Bogdan Badea, Head of Sales eJobs, said.

The youngsters believe they should earn by 50% more, on average RON 2,261.

Respondents aged 35-45 say they should earn by 33% more.

Many employees say they would move to another job if earnings are by RON 500 higher, i.e. by 19.3% more.

The employees in construction works have higher wage expectations than the ones in the IT field.

The highest expectations have the employees in management positions (RON 4,547), in constructions (RON 4,071), employees in the IT Software (RON 4,028). Banking employees believe the right salary is on average RON 3,601, in insurance RON 3,831 per month.

By regions, Bucharest-Ilfov is home of the highest wage expectations, on average of RON 3,557 and of the highest current salaries with an average of RON 2,699. The north-eastern region (Moldavia) wage expectations are by 19% lower than in Bucharest, with an average wage of RON 2,101, the survey reveals.

The e-jobs survey was conducted during May 15-August 15, 2017 on a sample of 3,262 respondents, active professionally.
