Survey: two thirds of the Romanian employees feel emotionally affected by the coronavirus pandemics
The strict measures against the spreading of the new coronavirus represented and still are a major factor for stress for 35% of the interviewees in a survey made by the online recruitment BestJobs which shows that almost 17% of the employees who answered the survey felt the need to ask for help from a specialist to keep their psychic health.
‘One out of two Romanians admits to the fact that continuous thoughts about the covid-19 pandemics have affected their psychic state and 23.6% state they were very affected from an emotional point of view’ show the results of a survey made by the online recruitment platform BestJobs.
Strict but necessary measures against the spreading of the new coronavirus represented and still are a major factor for stress for 35% of the interviewees but many of the employees passed through depression (14%) or panic states (13%), the survey shows.
Obliged to work from home for a longer period of time, more than 42% of the interviewees saw the tasks extremely stressful and difficult during this period, while for 28% the activity was normal, without feeling pressured or stressed more than before.
To keep a good mental state, 32% of the interviewees to the survey BestJobs say they rested and relaxed more, 25% had longer walks in the open, another 17% had different activities with the loved ones, while 12% worked out more which helped them to be positive and not be affected by worry.
‘Anxiety and stress by comparison to the pandemics, with their health state and that of their loved ones or with the uncertain situation at the workplace made almost 17% of the employees who answered the survey BestJobs to ask for help from a specialist to keep their psychic health. Another 9% intend to use the same solution during the next period’ the survey shows.
The general psychic state, professional situation and the financial decision represent the main three reasons for worry for half of the employees. Asked what stopped them from contacting a therapeut until now, 43.7% of the interviewees mentioned lack of time and/or money, and 7.6% admit to having second thoughts about it.
The need for specialty counselling has been present for a long time on the Romanian market, similar to models already tested and validated on an international plan, and was increased in the context of the covid-19 epidemics. Thus, more and more companies take into consideration such solutions for their employees such as life&business coaching services, counselling or psycho-therapy as an extra salary benefit.

The BestJobs survey was made during the period 20th September – 1st October 2020 on a sample of 1,263 internet users.
