The Defence Commission from the Senate, summoned on Monday in extraordinary meeting to discuss the Acquisition of the Patriot missiles
The Commission for the Defence in the Senate gathers on Monday in an extraordinary meeting to discuss the acquisition of the Patriot missiles, the official announcement made after the leader of social -democrats (PSD), Liviu Dragnea, stated that the draft law will get on the agenda for the plenary of Monday afternoon. The Union Save Romania (USR) and the National Liberal Party (PNL) supported on Tuesday that PSD-ALDE (Social Democratic Party and Alliance of Liberal and Democratic Liberals) coalition try to block in the parliament the acquisition of Patriot missiles after the members of the parties in governing missed the meeting of the commission on defence in the senate, whose agenda included the draft law regarding the acquisition of the misssiles.
‘The Union Save Romania (USR) warns that the majority of PSD-ALDE tries to block in the parliament the law for the acquisition of the first system of missile Patriot and puts into danger the strategy partnership with the US’ shows a press release of the USR.
The Commission for defence of the Senate was supposed to give a report on Tuesday on the draft law regarding ‘ the capability to air defence on groud basis’ close to the programme of endowment essential to ‘ the System of missiles Ground –air’ with long range’ (HSAM).
According to the quoted document, none of the PSD-ALDE senators presented on Tuesday to the meeting of the Commision for defence and public order in the Senate whose agenda included the draft law which regards the acquisition of the system of Patriot missiles. In the lack of senators PSD-ALDE the meeting couldn’t have the quorum and the law could not be discussed.The Commsission for defence of the Senate had to give a report on Tuesday on the draft law for the achievement of the ‘ Capabilitiy for air defence with ground basis ‘ connected to the programme for the endowment of the ‘
The PSD chairman Liviu Dragnea stated on Thursday night that the PSD and ALDE members of the Senate Commission for defence who missed the meeting in which the law for the acquisition of Patriot missiles was on the agenda, had to be present to another event.
The members of the Tudose government approved in the meeting on 8 November the draft law through which the Army will acquire seven systems of missiles ground-air Patriot with the necessary equipment, the value of the contract being 3.9 billion dollars without VAT. The first system will be bought until the end of this year, being already received the letter of acceptance from the American party, its value being 764,780.000 dollars without VAT.
