The market of packing in Romania is of approximately 890 million euro: less than 15% is biodegradable

The market of packing in Romania is of approximately 890 million euro, but less than 15% is made of biodegradable material, stated Tiberiu Stoian, general manager of Fabrica de Ambalage Exonia.

‘I don’t have an official report of the Institute for Statistics but the estimates of the main processors on the market consider that a global quantum of the imported packing would be approximately 37%. The production of the factory Ambalaje Exonia occupies one of the first five places in the top of processors in the niche of the flexible packing, estimated that it would represent a percentage of 7-8% of the total of the market of used packing in Romania’ Tiberiu Stoian said.

The representatives of the Exonia packing factory will test in Ukraine, as a world premiere, the first sample of paper ‘ Re-leaf Paper’ obtained from dry leaves. In the first stage, the factory will use approximately 130 tons of paper monthly, but the processing capacity of the technological line may reach 300 tons, capacity which they estimate to have towards the end of the year. Out of these quantities, depending of the response of the market, the producer appreciates that a percentage of approximately 10-15% could be the new type of paper ‘ Re-lead Paper’ made from leaves.

The paper used in the Fabrica de Ambalaje Exonia for the production of bags is made of recycled raw material or has FSC certificate through which they confirm that they do not come from virgin woods or protected areas, but exclusively from forestry plantations destined to industrial exploitation.

The estimates show that, if at world level there would be produced at least 10,000 tons of paper by using this technology every year, the surface of woods to be cut down would be reduced by 2% annually for the production of paper.
