The National Institute for Statistics: the insufficient demand and the lack of workforce,the main obstacles in business
Insufficient demand is the main cause which limits the activity of companies in Romania,followed by the lack of workforce and financial issues, says the series of four ‘Studies of economic conjuncture’made .by the INS
In services, the main cause which affects the small entreprises (1-49 employees) were in July: the insufficient demand (24% of the interviewees) financial issues (7%) and lack of workforce (5%). Moreover,the managers of the medium companies (50 – 249 employees) in the domain appreciated during the same period that the following factors restricted their activit: insufficient demand (7%), lack of workforce (7%) and financial issues (6%).
In the case of retail commerce the main causes which affected the activity of small entreprises (1-49 employees) were at the beginning of the second half of this year: insufficient demand (21%) competition (20%) and financial issues (10%). In exchange, the managers of medium entreprises (50 -249 employees) in the domain mentioned during the same period competition (4%) and insufficient demand (4%) as being the main causes.
The main causes which affected the normal development of activity in constructions for small entreprises were in July: lack of workforce (25%)insufficient demand (21%)and financial issues (11%).In the case of medium entreprises the main causes were at the same date: lack of workforce (17%) insufficient demand (13%) and financial issues (10%).
‘Managers appreciate in July 2018 that the main reason for the limitation of construction activity is the lack of workforce (23%).Similarly, the activity is negatively influenced by insufficient demand (19%) and financial issues (11%) the INS survey says in the domain.
According to the managers’ opinion,the main causes which limited the activity in the manufacturing industry were, in July: the domestic insufficient demand (12%) and lack of workforce(12%) followed by financial issues (4%).
The survey was answered by 2,727 economic agencies in the domain of services,2,232 economic agents in commerce,1,248 in constructionsand 2,201 in manufacturing industry, the allocation being made according to the main activity according to CAEN Rev2, INS says.
The studies were made in co-financing with the contribution of the European Commission – DGECFIN (Brussels)the error being, according to INS –of +/-5%.
