The recent decisions of the government, major impact on the economic relations of the state with international partners
The recent decisions of the government regarding the amendment of the criminal legislation, although restricted to the judicial area, will have a major impact on the economic relations which the state and the business environment will have with international partners due to lack of trust thus endangering the economic growth target of Romania. At the same time, the lack of predictability of the decision-making process will be reflected in the growth of the costs of loans which the Romanian state will sign, eventually resulting in the growth of fiscality, as a logical source to cover the deficits to come, say the representatives of the ‘Concordia’ employers’ confederation.
In a press release, ‘Concordia’ draws the attention on the need to rebalance the relation between the newly-installed government and the partners for social dialogue and the civil society. The lack of predictability of the decision-making process will be reflected in the growth of the costs of loans which Romania will sign, resulting in the growth of fiscality, as a logical source to cover the deficits to come.
‘We notice that the beginning of the present governing does not demonstrate the desire to have a real, public consultation or to make transparent the source of political decisions with economic and social impact as rules and not exceptions’ Concordia says.
Thus, according to the employers’ federations ‘ besides the latest amendments of the criminal legislation, the adoption of the recent measures with fiscal character, the annulment of the ceiling of 5 salaries for the payment of CAS and CASS, the increase of the minimum salary to 1,450 lei in the absence of the corresponding consultation with social partners or of a mechanism of transparent and coherent establishment, or the unreasonable duration for the public debate of the budget for 2017 in the forums of social dialogue, all this is an example of the continuation of a purely formal consultation process, contrary to the statements in the governing programme’.
‘Concordia’ is a confederation representative at national level, set up in 2007 which reunites employers federations whose members operate in important sectors of the Romanian economy:electricity and thermal energy, oil and gas, auto industry, trade, financial-budgetary activities, consultancy and engineering activities, transports, etc. The confederation is one of the biggest employers’ organisations in Romani and is representative at national level, with eight employers federations which represent over 500 companies, with a total of over 275,000 employees.
