Titus Corlatean meets Christoph Heusgen, foreign affairs adviser to the German Chancellor

Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Titus Corlatean, during his official visit to Berlin had a meeting with Christoph Heusgen, German Federal Chancellor's Advisor on Foreign and Security Policy, reads a release of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the abovementioned source, talks focused mainly on the bilateral relation between Romania and Germany and also on such issues of a current interest on the international agenda, especially the recent developments in the Eastern vicinity of the EU.

With respect to the bilateral matters, both interlocutors welcomed the dynamic and consistent political and diplomatic dialogue between the two countries and reiterated their common interest in further strengthening and diversifying cooperation in economic, trade and sectoral fields.

Among the issues of interest on the international agenda, the two high dignitaries focused mainly on the recent development in Ukraine, reiterating the position assumed at EU level and also at the level of the two capitals related to this issue, reads a release made public by MAE.

The two officials expressed their common vision over the Republic of Moldova's accelerated path to the European Union, which will allow the signing as soon as possible of the Association Agreement and of the Free Trade Agreement between the EU and the Republic of Moldova, reveals the abovementioned source.

They also approached such aspects referring to the European aspirations of the countries of the Western Balkans, in which context Minister Corlatean presented the priorities of the Romanian presidency of the Cooperation Process in South-East Europe (SEECP) and the usefulness of this cooperation formula for the promotion of the European and Euro-Atlantic integration objectives of the states in the region.
