Retail and construction managers estimate a decline of the economic activity in their domain from November 2016 to January 2017, whereas in the processing industry and the services sector, a relative stability is expected, according to a press statement of the National Statistics Institute (INS) sent on Monday.
"Within the short-term trend analysis carried out in November 2016, the processing industry managers foresee a relative stability of the production volume (conjectural balance +2 pct). The crude oil processing and coke production will record a sustained growth tendency (conjectural balance +57 pct), while for the manufacture of tobacco products, there will be a downward trend (conjectural balance -36 pct), " reads the document.
The prices of industrial goods will likely hold steady for the following three months (conjectural balance +1 pct). Regarding the number of employees, a certain stability is forecast, the conjectural balance being at + 1 pct for the whole of the processing industry.
According to November estimates, constructions will record a drop in the production volume in the following three months (conjectural balance -32 pct). Managers also predict a decline in the number of employees (conjectural balance -18 pct).
As regards the costs of construction works, they will likely record a relative stability (conjectural balance -4 pct).
"In the retail sector, managers have estimated a moderate decrease of economic activity for the next three months (conjectural balance -10pct). The volume of orders to the suppliers of goods by commercial units will register a relative stability (conjectural balance -3pct). Employers forecast for the next three months a moderate decline in the number of employees (conjectural balance -7 pct). For the following period, managers of commercial companies estimate a relative stability in retail prices (conjectural balance + 2 pct)," according to the cited source.
In estimates from November 2016, INS states that the demand for services (turnover) will hold relatively steady for the next three months (conjectural balance +5 pct).
In the services sector, a certain stability in the number of employees is estimated (conjectural balance +4pct. Managers consider that retail prices or billing fees for services will also register a relative stability (conjectural balance +1pct).
