Dacia car registrations on French market up 50 pct in March

Sales of Dacia cars in France registered an annual increase of 52.7 percent in March 2014, this being the highest percentage increase recorded by a carmaker on the French market, according to data released on Tuesday by the Committee of French Carmakers (CCFA).

Dacia car registrations on the French market amounted to 10,305 units in March 2014 (compared with 6,747 units in March 2013), accounting for about one quarter of the 47,526 cars sold by the Renault Group last month in France.

The automotive French market saw a 8.9 percent surge in March, with a number of 179,871 new cars being registered in France. The sales of France's biggest carmakers also advanced the most in March, as the PSA Group registered sales higher by 17.8 percent up to 100,069 units, and Renault posted sales higher by 20.6 percent up to 47,526 units. As for the Renault Group, Dacia new car registrations rose by 52.7 percent, and the Renault brand reported a 14 percent increase.

Dacia was taken over by French automaker Renault in 1999. Re-launched in 2004 by Logan model, Dacia has grown into a well-known player on the European automotive market.
