Healthcare : GE Healthcare’s innovative telemedicine technologies for cardiology implemented in a medical facility in Iasi

* GE Healthcare implemented in Iasi a cardiology information system to integrate, manage and streamline the flow of cardiac information. The system will enable physicians to access patients’ electrocardiogram information while streamlining workflows, to enable faster data delivery, distribution and analysis for better informed decisions and high quality care.

Today heart diseases are among the leading diseases in Romania and the first cause of mortality in Europe with almost 2 million deaths each year. In this context, easier and remote access to patient data including ECG data, exercise tests and results, as well as connecting patients’ data across the care continuum, is key to speed critical decision-making.

GE Healthcare’s tele-cardiology solution MAC® 600 will enable the medical facility   in Iasi to manage adult and paediatric diagnostic cardiac information by providing centralized storage and ready access to a wide range of data and reports from all diagnostic and monitoring equipment.

Significant demand is being placed on European healthcare systems. And positive healthcare outcomes often rely on fast access to information.” explains Ruxandra Toporan, Zone Sales Manager Romania & Republic of Moldova, GE Healthcare, Life Care Solutions. “Our objective is to help our customers deliver better, more efficient and more effective outcomes for patients. The development of telemedicine in Romania can positively impact the healthcare system and accelerate health reforms in the country, bringing important benefits for patients, especially for the population who lives in rural areas”, added the GE Healthcare representative.

The e-health solution will enable the medical staff in Iasi to review and edit stored data consisting of measurements, text, and digitized waveforms on screen. This will facilitate diagnosis through the use of reviewing, measuring and editing tools including ECG serial comparison, and it will ease the report exports, ad-hoc database search reports and clinical patient reports on selected stored data.“

The remarkable benefits of advanced diagnostic tools, which aim to provide increased access to better quality healthcare at a lower cost for a wider population, were approached during an open debate organizes today by GE Healthcare, under the auspices of the US Embassy in Romania. The event was attended by experts in the eHealth field, senior government officials, executives in hospital operations, acquisitions and general management, as well as family doctors.
