Healthcare: Sanador will open Oncology Centre this year
Sanador private health network, one of the biggest players in the market, reported last year a business figure of 64 million euros, on the rise by 22% compared to the previous year, Doris Carmen Andronescu, Sanador general manager told News.ro on Tuesday. The group, present only in Bucharest, will inaugurate an Oncology Centre in the second half of the year, for which they called back Romanian physicians from abroad.
Andronescu says that surgical specialities are most in demand.
“We have big requests for the emergency section too. We have our own ambulance fleet and there are days when we get up to 90 calls in 24 hours, which means a lot. We have 17 emergency, laboratory and image lines round the clock,” she added.
A higher business figure is estimated for this year, excluding the Oncology Centre to be inaugurated this year.
“In the second part of the year the Oncology Centre will become operational. It is a big, greenfield type investment, similar to the existing hospital. We will have more details at the inauguration,” Sanador representative says.
Such an investment is estimated to cost several million euros.
“This field is very little covered (20%), compared to Romanian oncology treatment needs, I refer to radiotherapy. It is a sensitive subject and a branch with shortages,”Andronache says.
For this centre, Sanador repatriated Romanian physicians from France and physicists from Saudi Arabia. Last year, Sanador investments went up to 4 million euros.
“For this year, besides the Oncology Centre, we intend to have 1 3 million euro investment in equipment for surgical specialities and OR,”Doris Carmen Andronescu said.
Physicians’ salaries have also increased.
“Physicians in the private sector have higher salaries than in the state sector. Nobody was affected by changes in the Fiscal Code,” she mentioned.
Sanador Hospital invested one million euros for a state of the art Philips Azurion 7 angyography equipment, unique in Romania, which can treat arterial affections by means of endovascular techniques.
